Background

From 1989 to 1993 I attended LSU, finally graduating with a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science.

Sometime in 1992 I realized that I was in danger of graduating and that I hadn't even started looking for a real job. Next thing I knew, I was headed to Durham, NC to do graduate work at Duke in the Department of Electrical Engineering (which is now known as the Department of ELectrical and Computer Engineering).

In May of 1995 I received my Master's degree for work on Neural Networks in Still Image and Video Compression. I extended this work and received a PhD in December of 1997.

Somewhere along the way (August 1996?) I fell into systems administration of the approximately 150 Unix workstations in our department. So now I'm doing some part time administration of the network along with my partner in crime: Vishnu. I am also teaching the ocassional course.

I am currently (Spring 1999) teaching EE 258 - Neural Networks and a module of STHV regarding ethics, computers and the internet.
