Pratt School of Engineering

Degree Requirements

Chambers FellowsThe Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at  Duke offers research-focused degrees at the Master of Science (MS) and Ph.D. levels in electrical and computer engineering, and applied Master of Engineering degrees in photonics, and in electrical and computer engineering.

To obtain these degrees, a student must satisfy a certain number of requirements, some of which are established by the Duke Graduate School and some by the ECE Department.

For the MS and Ph.D. degrees, please consult the Duke Graduate School Bulletin for the Graduate School requirements. Within ECE, graduate students are typically associated with a curricular group at the start of their studies. In all cases, students must declare their faculty advisor by the end of their first year of studies.

For the Master of Engineering degree, please consult the M.Eng. Office within the Pratt School of Engineering. Admission to these programs is handled by the Pratt School.
