ECE Computer Support.
Software
Software licensed through the department
Some software (generally technical and CAD packages for Solaris) is available through licenses purchased by the ECE Department. This software is available on the DSIL and DATC ECE lab clusters. In addition, Matlab is installed on all ECE Linux workstations and can be installed on ECE Windows workstations on request. The current software list includes:
- Matlab (Linux, Solaris and Windows) (See Windows installation instructions)
- ADS tools (Solaris)
- Cadence tools (Solaris)
- Mentor Graphics tools (Solaris)
- Powerview (Solaris)
- PSPICE (Solaris)
- Synopsys tools (Solaris)
Software covered under campus site license
OIT maintains a list of site-licensed software on their Site License Software Page. Site licensed software which is particularly useful for ECE users includes SSH clients, X-Win32, McAfee Antivirus, Kerio Firewall, Acrobat Reader, Mathematica, and Winzip. This software is free for download by Duke faculty, staff and students.
Other software
Software which is not covered by departmental or campus license must be purchased, either from the Duke Computer Store or from the vendor. Software which falls into this category includes Windows 2000 and XP, Microsoft Office, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Professional. In many cases, ECE Computer Support already has the CD media for this software, so all that is required is a license purchase from the Computer Store. Contact help@ee.duke.edu for media availability if you need to make a software purchase.
