Author’s Instructions


Papers submitted for publication in the JCIS Proceedings should not exceed 4 pages with figures and tables included. There are additional charges for summaries that exceed this length. Please see Registration and Fees for more information. Papers should be formatted for an 8 ½ x 11 size page. If you are sending a hard copy and only have access to A4 paper, please format your article so that it will fit on an 8 ½ x 11 page. If you are providing an electronic copy, please set it for 8 ½ x 11 paper.

The margins should be set as follows: Top- .75 inch, Right- 1 inch, Bottom- 1 inch, Left- 1 inch. Papers should be laid out in two columns using 10-point Times Roman font with 12 point leading. The total text block should be 6.5 inches wide, 9.25 inches high, and.25 inch between columns. Text should be single-spaced and justified.

The title should be centered and set in upper and lower case letters in 20 point Times Roman bold. Your name should be centered and set in 11 point Times Roman bold (upper and lower case) and should start .375 inch below the baseline of the article title. Your affiliation should be also be centered and set in 10 point font and should follow immediately below your name. The paper should begin .375 inch below the final line of your affiliation. Subheads should be in 14 point Times Roman bold, flush left, and should be preceded by one line of spacing beginning with the second subhead.

The proceedings will be printed in black and white so please do not include color drawings or photographs. Please keep in mind that poor quality graphics will not reproduce well.

Submission Information

Paper summaries should be submitted to the individual Conference, Workshop, or Symposium Chairs by the dates posted on the Web site (see Important Dates). Camera-ready copies of invited papers can be submitted directly to JCIS Manager Anna Menzies in Word, pdf, or postscript format to menzies_ap@compuserve.com. Hard copies of invited papers should be mailed to Anna Menzies, 1211 Courtland Dr., Raleigh, NC 27604, USA.

We cannot guarantee that any articles accepted for publication but received after the June 16, 2003 posted deadline will be published in the conference proceedings. In addition, a Paper Publication Fee/Registration Deposit of $180 must be received by July 1, 2003 or the paper will not be included in the proceedings. NO EXCEPTIONS unless approved by the conference manager in writing.

The balance can be paid up to and on site at the conference.
