FT&T 2003 is part of the 7th Joint Conference on Information Sciences (JCIS), that will be held in Cary, NC, USA, from September 26 till September 30, 2003.

FT&T 2003 will concentrate on the mathematical foundations of fuzzy logic in a broad as well as in a narrow sense and all kind of application domains of these theories of fuzziness. More particular we will welcome papers on the following theoretical issues and their applications:

• Fuzzy topology including fuzzy metric spaces and smooth topological spaces.
• Fuzzy algebraic structures such as fuzzy groups, fuzzy rings, fuzzy vector spaces.
• Fuzzy numbers and arithmetical operations, including ranking procedures for fuzzy numbers.
• Fuzzy intuitionistic sets.
• Interval-valued fuzzy sets.
• Rough sets, fuzzy rough sets.
• L-fuzzy sets.
• Links between different models of imprecision and uncertainty.
• Fuzzy relational structures, including fuzzy relational equations, fuzzy similarity relations and fuzzy orderings.
• Fuzzy geometry.
• Uncertainty theories including possibility and necessity theory, plausibility and belief measures, imprecise probabilities.
• Logical operations, including t-norms, t-conorms, implications, fuzzy quantifiers.
• Measures of fuzziness.
• Defuzzification techniques.
• Fuzzy measures and fuzzy integrals.
• Fuzzy multivalued mappings.
• Fuzzy differential calculus.
• Fuzzy mathematical morphology.

As practical applications we will especially welcome papers on fuzzy relational databases, fuzzy image processing, linguistic variables, fuzzy decision making and preference structures, fuzzy expert systems, fuzzy reliability theory, … .

We heartily welcome organizations of special sessions on specific topics containing 4 to 6 contributions

More information about the parallel conferences in JCIS 2003 as well as accommodation facilities, registration fees, etc. can be obtained from the JCIS website (www.ee.duke.edu/JCIS).

The following timetable has been set up:

March 14, 2003	Paper summaries due to Conference, Workshop, or Symposium Chair.
May 14, 2003	Conference Chairs to notify authors of paper acceptance based on reviews.
June 16, 2003	Revised camera-ready summaries due to individual Conference Chairs.
June 16, 2003	Invited paper summaries due to Conference Manager.
July 1, 2003	Dealine for authors with accepted and invited papers to register and submit the minimum $180 publication fee or early discounted registration fees. Balance of registration fees (non-discounted) may be paid on site at the conference. Paper publication fee is due for each paper (regular and invited) to be included in proceedings. Any paper for which the publication fee or early registration fee has not been paid by this date will NOT be included in the proceedings.
